
Yolizbeth Lozano Oropesa (b. 2000 Brownsville, TX) is a chicana storyteller living and working in Providence, RI. Her interdisciplinary practice finds ground in the exploration of material, color, and texture, and how art can serve as a means for play. she also finds inspiration in memories from her childhood and the many folktales she grew up hearing, most notably la llorona, the weeping water woman who haunts the Rio Grande.
Yolizbeth graduated from Brown University in 2022 with her B.A. in Visual Arts with Honors and English. She currently works as the Development + Communications Coordinator at DownCity Design, a youth non-profit dedicated to accessible design education and the improvement of civic spaces.
